Drained motivation

Submitted question covered in this blog:

"Do you have any kind of spell/chant to make me gain motivation and energy in the craft again?"

This is a great question and has importance in my opinion because this is a common occurrence from what I understand from other witches. But, especially experienced by those who have started out their journey in the craft and feel as though it begins to fizzle out. Thank you for submitting this question!

Using plant associations in witchcraft
persistance against the odds

Feeling 'burnt out' in magick can happen when one starts to notice feeling very tired, worn out and don't have a lot of motivation to do shadow work, spells, rituals, or other magickal workings. If this happens to you, you may need to slow down, take a break, and re-energize.

My advice would be to look back at your own accomplishments so far in the craft, and be proud of who you are, and how far you've come. I can guarantee that you've taken steps on you path away from where you started, and moving you forward to where you are today - reflect on that journey and take a moment to celebrate yourself!

Taking up a form of divination or scrying can also be helpful to analyse the inner self, also known as the shadow, from which we can learn more about ourselves and get to know it true ambitions and intentions that are kept hidden from everyone else. Some divination techniques that come to mind are ink, water or black mirror scrying, automatic writing, rune casting, tarot reading, numerology, pendulum use, tea leaf reading, divine meditation, astrology, shamanic journeying, bone reading, Celtic Ogham, stone divination, etc.

Each divination practice connects with your intuitive senses to pull out messages from deep within. This can be benifitial when feeling overwhelmed and need a better understanding, or advice, a second opinion, etc.

Affirmations may also be helpful as a minor chant that can help to bring in powerful motivation and a sense of renewed energy.

Simplify!

Spells and rituals so not need to be overly complicated. By simplifying it down to the bare associations of your intention, you're allowing for a more direct focus in your workings. When feeling tired, sometimes the smallest ritualistic expressions can be the most moving.

Be sure to utilize the energies surrounding, and can be found in nature, spirit work, within associated spellwork ingredients, etc. Do not totally rely on your own energy alone to power a spell completely. Also, learning to create and work with energy spell recharging or "batteries" can also be helpful to maintain the charge of some magickal workings that are consistent or ever manifesting. Everlasting protections, for example.

Shadow work can be helpful

One thing to always keep in mind is that magickal workings don't need to be elaborate or complicated. Something as simple as stirring intention for the day into your morning coffee or tea can help set your mindset from thereafter.

If you’re finding yourself feeling tired, overwhelmed, or burnt out, then a relaxing bath ritual will help you refill your cup and get grounded again, as explained in this other blog entry: https://www.askagreywitch.com/post/ritual-baths

Spend some time honouring yourself. Perhaps a self-love ritual bath would help. Witchcraft is a study. Even professors take sabbaticals!

Cut yourself some slack. When you're ready, you'll immerse yourself once again.
